Centre for Competitive Examinations
Centre for competitive Examinations has been effectively functioning ever since its inception of the college. The objective of the centre is to train the students preparing for the competitive exams conducted by the state and central governments. Retired teachers, Experts, Trainers, Successful entrepreneurs and professionals are invited as resource persons. They conduct regular classes and assess the performance of the registered students periodically. An exclusive cabinet is hosed for competitive exam books in the library. Prominent alumni and the prospective management are magnanimously contribute for the efficient functioning of the centre.
Career Guidance and Counselling
A committee is constituted for career guidance and counselling. A senior member is appointed as the convenor of the committee which invites resource persons from various disciplines to facilitate the students about their educational and occupational opportunities in the globe. It also offers classes on building inter-personal skills, self – esteem, motivation, decision making, goal setting, career placement and counselling. It indentifies options and explores altercative for students to succeed in their career.
Soft Skill Development
There is an exclusive committee to look after the soft skill programmes. Soft skill is one week programme which has been offered to the students of regular stream under UGC’s financial assistance and under the management’s support to the self-financing students of all three years every year. Trainers and Experts of generic skills are resourced to impart soft skills which are recognized as the most critical skills in the present global job market especially in fast growing digital era. Subjects like communicative skills, creative thinking, problem solving skills, team work, entrepreneurship skills, leadership skills, information and management system are taught to the students.
Remedial Coaching :.
The intake of our institution is mostly students hailing from socially and economically poor background. They are first generation learners studied generally in government schools run by the state government. The curriculum introduced and the language taught is difficult for students to understand for the slow learners. Hence, the remedial classes are being conducted after college hours. A test is conducted to check the progress of the students. Such remedial classes help the students in improving the results in their semester examinations.
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of our college organizes fresher’s orientation programme at the beginning of every academic year as the transition for students from school to college is little bit tough and challenging. The fresher’s will assemble in the seminar hall with their parents and an eminent guest will address the students on the importance of higher education. The Principal, Heads of the departments, the administrative head, covenors of various committees, NSS, NCC officers, Physical Director and the Librarian will orient the students about the curriculum, teaching – learning, student support, to infrastructure governance and management and the administration to familiarize the students with the institution.
Yoga and Meditation
Yoga and Meditation classes are regularly conducted for students to improve their health and well being of academic performance. It also helps them to develop creative thinking, practical intelligence, and academic achievements. It also lowers their level of stress, depression and anxiety. A visiting woman yoga faculty is exclusively appointed for the students of women hostel students to teach them yoga and meditation.
The students are counselled at the department level. A women teacher is appointed as the convenor to enquire the issues of the girl students. Their problems are generally solved at the institutional level. Some special cases are referred to the professional counseller who visits the campus periodically.
