As I sit in this Director’s seat, in the year 2020, a year which history will remember for centuries to come as a year of pandemic, as a simple man of faith, a professor for nearly 40 years and being at the helm of various academic institutions for nearly a decade, I contemplate upon the question asked by poet T.S.Eliot, ‘Shall I At least Keep My Lands in Order?’
YES. I know I am in the right place at the right time for the right job. Being the Director of the Self Financed courses of Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College inspires me with the missionary zeal of serving society.
Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College is the first in the city to offer co-education programs at the UG level itself with the sole aim of emancipating both men and women from the marginalised social space. Today, like a banyan tree it has its branches spread far and wide while very much having shot its branches down to Mother Earth.
The sprawling eco-friendly campus of this college is patronised by the philanthropy personified trust formed by Tamil Nadu Naidu Mahajana Sangam which has been incessantly doing immeasurable service to the entire city of Madurai and Tamil Nadu especially to the economically and socially underprivileged and the women.
As the classical Tamil coupleteer Valluvar would say
“Sharing with and sustaining diverse lives according to the wise Is the chiefest of all virtues”
பகுத்துண்டு பல்லுயிர் ஓம்புதல் நூலோர் தொகுத்தவற்றுள் எல்லாம் தலை
The honourable trustees of the college have been serving to such venerable proportion that anyone who steps into the academic life provided by Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College will be inspired by the practical mantras: Freedom with Responsibility, Punctuality with Professional finesse, Tradition with Improvisation and Technology with Human values.
I welcome all the stakeholders to join us in the divine mission of uplifting humanity.
